The WACO Warriors and Sigourney Savages were running with a purpose Thursday at local cross country meets. WACO got another excellent race from first-year runner Josie Dykstra at the Keokuk Invitational.

The freshman finished ninth overall in the girls’ race with a time of 22 minutes 21 seconds at Elks Fairview Golf Course in Keokuk. Senior Elyssa Graber also ran a top-20 time for the Warriors.

Sigourney was led by Addison Yates, who clocked in at 22:13 to take fifth at the Wildwood Park meet Thursday in Pekin, while fellow junior Ellie Yates finished 13th in just under 23:12. Junior Troy Klett paced the Savage boys with a time of 18:52 that was good enough for eighth place.
