The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves picked up another conference volleyball victory last night, defeating Pekin in four sets. WMU took the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-17, and while Pekin claimed the third frame 25-21, the Wolves would roll to victory in the fourth set 21-9 to claim the match.
Freshman Kynlee Buffington led Winfield-Mount Union with 14 kills and four blocked shots while also coming up with seven digs. Junior Kellee Milks had a double-double of 10 kills and 21 digs while also picking up a pair of serving aces.
Outside hitter Josie Nelson added seven kills, 19 digs and two aces, while fellow senior Pacey Schlee had team highs of 21 digs and four aces and junior Kaelyn Townsley came up with seven kills, seven digs and three aces for WMU.
Junior setter Madisen Kellogg handed out 34 assists as the Wolves improve to 2-0 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 7-3 overall. Winfield-Mount Union will next play tomorrow night against WACO.
