Area runners from six local schools converge on Knoll Ridge Golf Course in North English tonight for the annual English Valleys Classic.
Hillcrest Academy will race tonight in North English. The Ravens last ran at Waterworks Park in Fairfield Thursday where Marie Yoder led the girls as the small school champion with a meet best time of 20:21. The Raven boys were fourth as a team with Jesse Blossom placing 11th. Yoder is ranked No. 14 in this week’s Class 1A girls poll from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.
Highland also ran at Fairfield Thursday. Brayden Zywiec was the top performer on the boys side, going under 24 minutes and Olivia Edwards led the girls clocking in below 33 and a half minutes.
Keota’s Hunter Grandstaff competed at the Sigourney meet last week where he broke 27 minutes.
Last meet for Lone Tree was also Fairfield Thursday where Addyson Eben for the girls and Brock Nebergall for the boys both finished in 18th place.
Sigourney last competed at Davis County Thursday. Troy Klett was third overall for the boys in just over 19 minutes. Addison Yates was sixth to lead the girls.
WACO’s last meet was one week ago at Sigourney where Josie Dykstra had a sixth place finish for the Warrior girls and Keiran Luitjens was 27th in the boys race.
Also competing tonight at EV are Belle Plaine, Durant, HLV, Iowa Valley, North Mahaska, Pekin, Wapello, Wilton and the home No. 9 in Class 1A Bears girls and their boys. Action starts tonight at 4:30 and continues into the evening in North English.
