The Columbus Wildcats claimed a conference win in volleyball last night after they went on the road and topped the WACO Warriors. Columbus won each of the first two sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-11, and when WACO took the third set 25-22 to extend the match, the Wildcats edged out the Warriors in the fourth frame 25-23 to secure the victory.

Kennedy Woepking was tied for a team-high with nine kills for Columbus and also collected 12 digs, while fellow junior Jessica Del Rio also had nine kills and came up with a whopping seven serving aces.

Junior Aracely Garza also put up seven aces to go with eight kills and 18 digs, while junior Audrey Hoback added seven kills and 12 digs. Setter Daniela Diaz dished out 26 assists but also had three kills, nine digs and two aces for the Wildcats.

With the win, Columbus is now 3-1 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 5-8 overall. Meanwhile, WACO falls to 0-3 in conference play and 5-10 in total. The Warriors next visit the Highland Huskies tomorrow, while the ‘Cats host reigning league champion Wapello.
