The Columbus Wildcat football team took a 48-0 loss at Pekin Friday night. Columbus behind the undefeated Panthers early and could not recover on a night where they gained only 146 yards on offense.

Senior Riley Kaalberg led the Wildcats with 84 rushing yards on 24 carries, while quarterback Trevor Phillips completed four out of seven passes for 25 yards, two of which were caught by fellow junior Angel Venzor that combined to gain 12 yards.

The defeat drops Columbus to 1-2 in Class A District 5 and 1-3 overall. The ‘Cats will try to turn things around in Week Five when they welcome Highland to town for homecoming.
