The Washington Demons earned a split of their four volleyball matches Saturday at a tournament at West Liberty. The day started strong for Washington, as the Demons defeated Davenport North in straight sets, 21-13 and 21-11.
Washington took the first set of their next match as well, beating Cedar Rapids Kennedy 22-20. They nearly beat the Cougars but would lose the second frame by that same score, and Kennedy would edge them out in the tie-breaking third set as well, 16-14.
The Demons would get a three-set victory over Muscatine before finishing things up Saturday by dropping both sets to the hosting West Liberty Comets. Washington’s record is now 8-10 as they get ready to play again tonight at home against Mount Pleasant.
