The Highland Huskies suffered a 49-6 defeat to Lisbon Friday night on the football field. Highland hung tough early with the fourth-ranked team in the state in Class A, getting a first-quarter touchdown run by sophomore Jose Ramirez and only trailing 14-6 at halftime. But Lisbon dominated from there, scoring three TDs in the third quarter to pull away.
The Huskies gained 234 yards on offense, led by sophomore Garrett Beeson’s 61 rushing yards on 20 carries. Ramirez finished with 22 yards on eight attempts, while senior Logan McFarland completed a pair of passes, one them for a 71-yard gain to sophomore Hunter Seibel.
Colten Sypherd had seven tackles and a sack to lead the Highland defense, while fellow senior Jared Diaz intercepted a pass. The Huskies fall to 1-2 in their district and 2-2 overall.
