The Highland Huskies continued their strong volleyball season by winning in straight sets Monday at Iowa Valley. Highland took the first set 25-17, and while Iowa Valley crept closer in each subsequent frame, the Huskies held off the Tigers to win the last two sets as well, 25-20 and 26-24.

Sophomore Hailey Brun led Highland with eight kills and also had a pair of serving aces and 13 digs. Juniors Brenna Hazelett and Adisyn Prottsman added six kills and one blocked shot each, while senior setter Laney Skelton handed out 17 assists to go with two aces and six digs as the Huskies improve to 13-8.

The Keota Eagles were not as fortunate Monday night, falling in straight sets to English Valleys. Keota dropped each of the first two sets in tight fashion, losing 25-23 and 25-22, but the Eagles would not be able to extend the match after losing the third frame as well 25-14.

The loss keeps Keota winless in the South Iowa Cedar League East and moves them to 2-5 overall. The Eagles play again tomorrow night against Belle Plaine, while Highland will return to action tomorrow with pool play matches in Mediapolis as part of this year’s Southeast Iowa Super Conference Tournament.
