Sunday and Monday, multiple law enforcement agencies in Johnson County conducted a countywide Sex Offender Registry compliance check. The goal of the operation was to ensure all registered sex offenders residing in Johnson County were registered in accordance with Iowa law and promote voluntary compliance. During the operation law enforcement checked 151 registered offenders; two were non-compliant, with charges pending. Two others were taken into custody for violating the registry requirements. Assisting the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office were the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Coralville Police Department, Iowa City Police Department, and the United States Marshall’s Service- Southern District.
