The Lone Tree Lions would love to come up with a road football win tonight as they head to Edgewood-Colesburg. A late lead at home last week slipped away in a 36-34 loss to Springville that dropped Lone Tree to 2-1 in their eight-player district and 2-2 overall.

Junior quarterback Emmett Burke has been a dual threat for the Lions, passing for over 660 yards and nine touchdowns while also running for nearly 290 yards and another six scores.

Senior running back Maddox Jondle has also been a load for opponents to stop, racking up over 560 yards and seven TDs on the ground. Jondle and Burke also lead the team in tackles, but senior Brody Magruder has also been a force for the defense with seven-and-a-half tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

Lone Tree is matched up against an undefeated side in Edgewood-Colesburg. The Vikings’ 4-0 start has largely been propelled by their electric run game, which averages almost 350 yards per contest and over 11 yards per carry.

Senior quarterback Pryce Rochford has been Edgewood-Colesburg’s top threat with 822 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns while averaging better than 12 yards an attempt.

The Lions look to make it back-to-back years with a win against the Vikings, having won last year’s meeting 39-22. This season’s matchup kicks off this evening from Edgewood at 7 o’clock.
