The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team made a move in the latest Class 3A rankings issued by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Hawks are No. 8 in this week’s poll, up four spots from 12th. Mid-Prairie is in the middle of a nine match winning streak that included an unbeaten Saturday at South Tama where the Hawks won the championship.

On the year, the Golden Hawks have 1,208 digs, third most in Class 3A, 722 kills, fifth in 3A, 693 assists, second in 3A, 153 aces, sixth in 3A, 123 blocks and a .296 kill efficiency, third in 3A. Individual leaders include, Jovi Evans with 354 assists and 178 kills, Callie Huber with a .361 kill efficiency, 10th in 3A. She and Brylee Gearhart each have 27 blocks. Dakota Mitchell has 319 digs, fifth in 3A and 33 aces, 10th in 3A.

Mid-Prairie is 21-5 on the year, and 3-1 in River Valley Conference play. The Golden Hawks host Tipton Thursday.
