Monday night in Iowa City, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk cross country teams gave the field at the Creek Classic the old ‘1-2’ in a dominant showing.

The No. 2 in Class 2A Golden Hawk girls were team champions with their score of 31 points, beating state ranked in 3A Clear Creek Amana by six. Golden Hawk Brooklyn Stutzman won the individual title in a time of 20:20, teammate Rachel Hostetler was second in 20:59. Other Mid-Prairie finishers included Tessa Brokaw fifth, Rebekah Wallington 13th, Hannah Rodgers 18th, Kyrie Poll 26th, Ivy Reschly 27th, Braelee Yoder 44th, Alaina Safly 60th, Marissa Parks 62nd, Stephanie Parks 66th, Samantha Wunderlich 67th, Natalie Weaver 68th, Lexi Miller 74th, Skyler Swift 75th, Fiona McClellen 76th and Gwen Wunderlich 82nd.

The Columbus Wildcats were fourth as a team with 125 points. Top ‘Cat was Iris Garza 15th in 22:49. Other Wildcats included Isabel Rendon 21st, Maritza Tovar 42nd, Frannie Sosa 51st, Naomi Allchin 72nd, Jenells Panchillo 73rd, and Kymila Bacon 77th.

Sigourney did not have a team score but were led by a top 10 finish from Ellie Yates in eighth at 22:08. Other Savages included Addison Yates 16th, Brynn Clarahan 20th, and Cloee Wilson 40th.

On the boys side, it was a one and a two again for the No. 4 in Class 2A Golden Hawk boys, en route to a second place finish. The Hawks scored 40 points, and were just edged out by state ranked in 3A Clear Creek Amana with their 37. Preston Yutzy was the individual champ, edging out teammate Emmett Swartzentruber by fractions of a second with matching 16:59 times, for his first career win. Other Golden Hawk performers included Jayse Yoder ninth, Max Swartzentruber 13th, Luke Brokaw 17th, Reece Waters 21st, Thomas Flynn 24th, Jesse Stultz 26th, Ben Lothamer 70th, Adrian Sanchez 74th, Easton Rios 80th, Evan Reschly 81st, and Cayce Damschen 93rd.

The No. 12 in 1A Columbus boys were fourth with 90 points. State-ranked Ty Muniz went top 10 in sixth at 17:37. Other Columbus racers included Cade Storm 19th, Ryan Villa 20th, Drake Marin 25th, Bryan Tlatenchi 28th, Elias Gonzalez-Bravo 31st, Juan Alcala 39th, Victor Tovar 40th, Alan Miranda 50th, Max Nunez 75th, Griffin Robertson 88th, Tyson Corneille 92nd, Noah Razo 98th, Eugene Tchenco 99th, and David Garcia 103rd.

Winfield-Mt. Union was fifth of seven schools with 159 points. Kohlby Newsom led the Wolves in 15th with a time of 18:29. Other WMU runners included Bowen Thomson 43rd, Jacob Nelson 44th, Brayden Cline 67th, Carter Finnell 73rd, Konner Kinnberg 91st, William Cupps 100th, Jagger Thomson 107th, and Adlin Wilkerson 108th.

Sigourney did not post a team score. They were led by Troy Klett 11th in 18:13. Other Savages included Levi Myers 59th, Jordan Anderson 62nd, and Isaac Jones 76th.
