The Lone Tree Lions had a good showing on their home floor Tuesday while hosting a volleyball triangular. Lone Tree started things by defeating the Keota Eagles in straight sets, 24-22 and 21-17, and after dropping their first set with the WACO Warriors 23-21, the Lions recovered to win the final two frames 21-18 and 15-10 and take the match.

Avery Morarie led Lone Tree with a total of nine kills for the night, while fellow senior Rylee Shield came up with six kills, eight digs and two blocked shots.

Senior Cate Sexton had four blocks and three kills, while junior Alyson Ford joined her in the middle to put up four kills and three blocks. Senior setter Hayden Yoder handed out 21 assists and also had three serving aces for the Lions, who improve to 7-14.

Despite the loss to Lone Tree, Keota did win one of their matches Tuesday night, sweeping WACO 21-18 and 21-16. The split moves the Eagles’ record to 3-8.

In a pair of defeats, Courtney Waterhouse paced the Warriors with 10 kills, while fellow sophomore Brenna Graber had 21 digs on defense and eight kills for the attack.

Senior Ella Huisenga racked up 27 digs for the WACO defense, while junior setter Morgan Meyer dished out 13 assists. The defeats drop the Warriors to 5-17.

While WACO looks for the bounce-back tonight when they host Hillcrest Academy, Lone Tree travels to Pekin this evening and Keota hosts conference rival BGM.
