Four schools in the KCII listening area are on the course in Kalona today for the annual Hillcrest Raven Cross Country Invitational.
The home Ravens were last in action Thursday at the City High Bud and Bonnie Williams Classic at the Iowa City Kickers Complex where the girls finished 10th of 13 schools, led by Marie Yoder in 14th. The Raven boys were 14th in the team standings with Jesse Blossom 82nd. Yoder is the lone ranked Raven in the lineup, checking in at No. 11 in this week’s Class 1A individual girls poll from the Iowa Association Track Coaches.
Lone Tree will also be in Kalona tonight. At Winfield-Mt. Union last week, the Lady Lions were third as a team with Vivian Zaruba fifth overall. The Lion boys had Brock Nebergall finish in the top ten.
Sigourney will be on the course tonight. The Savages last ran at the City High meet in Iowa City where Ellie Yates was eighth for the girls and Troy Klett 11th for the boys.
The WACO Warriors competed Thursday at Winfield-Mt. Union with the boys finishing third as a team led by Jude Dykstra with a runner-up finish. The WACO girls saw Josie Dykstra lead with a third place race. Jude Dykstra is ranked No. 14 in the boys individual 1A IATC poll.
Also in the field tonight are the No. 5 in Class 1A Danville boys and their No. 15 girls, the No. 10 in Class 1A English Valleys girls and their boys, Fairfield, HLV, Iowa Valley, L-M, the No. 20 Mediapolis boys and their girls, Mount Pleasant, North Mahaska, the No. 1 in Class 3A Pella girls and their No. 2 boys, Wapello and West Liberty. Varsity races start tonight at 5:30p.m. On the campus of Hillcrest Academy.
