The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves suffered a 72-30 loss to Iowa Valley Friday night on their home field. WMU trailed 30-8 by the end of the first quarter and just could not quite keep up with the eighth-ranked team in the state in eight-player football, as the undefeated Tigers piled up over 320 yards rushing and nearly 500 total yards.
Winfield-Mount Union quarterback Jake Edwards went six-for-16 throwing the ball for 176 yards and a touchdown. Fellow senior Lane Genkinger caught that TD as part of two total receptions for 86 yards and also gained 122 yards on the ground on 23 carries.
A loss drops the Wolves to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in 8-Player District 6. WMU will try to rebound this Friday night when they entertain Mormon Trail.
