Four local schools took the course in Kalona for the annual Hillcrest Academy cross country Invitational Monday.

Top area team finish belonged to the home Raven girls fourth of eight teams with 127 points. Pella Green won the team title with a perfect score. First Raven to finish was Marie Yoder in eighth in 20:09. Other Hillcrest runners included Siena Stanerson 11th, Rya Scott 35th, Delaney Shaw 52nd, and Brynna O’Rourke 66th. Top overall girls time belonged to Marissa Ferebee of Pella in 18:18.

The Lone Tree girls were eighth in the team standings with 199 points. First finisher for the Lady Lions was Addyson Eiben 41st in 23:31. Other Lady Lions included Jazmine Nino 54th, Ava Christofferson 58th, Carlee Sexton 60th, Abby Zaruba 67th and Evelyn Mueller 70th.

The Sigourney girls did not post a team score. The Savages were led by Brynn Clarahan 14th in 21:29. Other Sigourney runners included Ellie Yates 17th, Addison Yates 24th and Cloee Wilson 63rd.

The WACO girls also did not have a team score and were led by Josie Dykstra in 18th at 21:47, followed by Elyssa Graber 38th.

In the boys race, Hillcrest was the best area school in seventh of 10 schools with 175 points. Pella Green won the title with a perfect 15. Jesse Blossom was first across the line for the Ravens in 25th in 19:17. Other Hillcrest runners included Micah Gerber 35th, Braden Hartsock 41st, Isaac Beachy 48th, Jeremiah Danker 62nd, and Mateo Rodriguez-Yoder 69th. Canaan Dunham of Pella was the individual champ in 16:06.

Sigourney was 10th as a team with 230 points. Troy Klett was the leader in 11th in 18:06. Other Savages included Levi Myers 60th, Jordan Anderson 64th, Isaac Jones 67th, and Hunter Grandstaff 75th.

WACO had Jude Dykstra post the best area finish in sixth at 17:14. He was followed by Gavin Slagel 17th, Keiran Luitjens 37th and Tristan Luitjens 47th.

Lone Tree’s leader was Brock Nebergall 31st in 19:33 then Trenton McKean 70th.
