The Sigourney Savages claimed a straight-sets win on their home volleyball floor Monday night against conference rival HLV. Sigourney took the first set 25-15, and while HLV kept things close the rest of the way, the Savages won the next two frames as well, 25-22 and 25-21.
Middle hitter Reagan Clarahan led Sigourney with nine kills and two blocked shots, while fellow senior Josephine Moore had eight kills and team highs of 17 digs and two serving aces.
Junior Addy Fineran also had two blocks to go with four kills, while sophomore Bailey Gretter stuffed the stat sheet with seven kills, nine assists, seven digs and an ace.
Senior Taylor Rozenboom had 20 assists at setter to go with six digs and an ace as the Savages improve to 5-1 in the East division of the South Iowa Cedar League and 13-4 overall.
The Keota Eagles would not get the same results Monday at Colfax-Mingo. Keota dropped the first set 25-11 and would not recover, losing the final two frames 25-15 and 25-12.
The loss drops the Eagles to 3-10, including an 0-6 record in the SICL East. Keota is back in action tomorrow night against HLV, while Sigourney will also play tomorrow evening against BGM.
