The Washington Demons were nearly perfect to get things going at this year’s Southeast Conference Volleyball Tournament, winning all three of their matches in the first round of play last night in Keokuk.
Washington defeated Mount Pleasant in straight sets 25-13 and 25-16 before also sweeping Fort Madison 25-23 and 25-8. The Demons won the first set against Fairfield 25-19, and while they would drop the second 25-23, they would take a tie-breaking third frame 15-10 to win the match.
As a result of an undefeated evening, Washington is now 7-1 in conference play and 14-10 overall. The Demons will wrap up the league tournament this coming Tuesday in Burlington, but up first is a tournament in Pella on Saturday.
