The Lone Tree Lions are hoping things start to turn in their favor as they take the football field in Central City tonight. Lone Tree’s 59-42 defeat against Calamus-Wheatland last week was their third straight loss, dropping them to 1-3 in their eight-player district and 2-4 overall.

Quarterback Emmett Burke and running back Maddox Jondle have been bright spots for the Lion offense. The junior Burke has passed for over 660 yards and nine touchdowns while also rushing for over 300 yards and six TDs, while the senior Jondle has nearly 700 yards and eight scores on the ground.

Junior Domonic Garcia has also become a big-play threat for Lone Tree, catching 18 passes for over 300 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, senior Brody Magrduer has been the Lions’ top disruptive force with eight-and-a-half tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

Lone Tree will be taking on a Central City squad that is 4-3 but has won three straight district games, averaging over 60 points per game during that winning streak. The Wildcats defeated the Lions last season 44-13. Kickoff this evening is set for 7 o’clock.
