The No. 8 in Class 3A Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team played their final weekend tournament of the regular season Saturday, traveling to Clear Creek Amana. Across five matches, the Golden Hawks got wins over Earlham 21-11 and 21-5, Union 21-16 and 21-19 and Martensdale-St. Mary’s 21-8 and 21-7. Their losses came to larger schools including No. 3 in Class 4A North Scott 21-12 and 21-19 and the No. 4 in 4A home Clippers 26-24 and 21-19. Leaders for Mid-Prairie on the day included Jovi Evans with 44 assists, 36 kills, 25 digs and 14 aces. Avery Helmuth had 40 assists, Jeorgia Evans 26 digs, and six blocks. Dakota Mitchell added 53 digs and seven aces and Brylee Gearhart finished with four blocks. Mid-Prairie is now 26-7 on the season and travels to Tipton tonight for the River Valley Conference South Division Tournament.
