The Washington City Council met on Tuesday in regular session. On the agenda was a discussion and consideration of enforcing cemetery rules. City Administrator Joe Gaa gave some more information on this agenda item, “On or around the monument, the decorations shall be on the monument in permanently mounted vases, or on the monument foundation. Anything left on the ground will be disposed of. And so what we have been talking about is I just kind of gave them a name, what do we call them. Really they are decoration gardens. Because it’s landscaping, and it gives some additional decoration room.  There were multiple public comments made on this item and discussion from most council members. The decision was made to enforce the cemetery rules which state that only decorations that can be placed on the monuments, or in the permanent vases may be left at grave sites.
