The Hillcrest Academy Raven volleyball team has one final regular season tune-up on the schedule, when they travel to Danville for a five team tournament. Hillcrest is 18-7 overall and 5-3 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference after a three set sweep of Columbus Tuesday in Kalona. On the year, the Ravens have 1,003 digs, 670 kills, 550 assists, 203 aces and 75 blocks. Individually, they are led by Claire Withrow’s 534 assists, Malia Yoder with 287 digs and 282 kills with 50 aces, and Kylee Statler’s 32 blocks. This week, Ravens Niva Helmuth, Adrianne Blauvelt and Stavia Miller talked with KCII Sports about their keys to success the rest of the season.
The three Ravens said, “One of the main things we have been working on that’s important is our communication. Positioning is important, being where we are supposed to be and transitioning. We have to capitalize on teamwork. Getting to our sports, hustling for the ball and keeping up the encouragement.”
Hillcrest is joined tonight by Burlington, Mount Pleasant, Burlington Notre Dame and the home Bears. Action starts tonight at 5p.m. and continues into the evening in Danville.
