The WACO Warriors won a thriller in their final match of the volleyball regular season Tuesday against Pekin. After dropping the first sets 25-20 and 25-15, WACO rallied to eek out a victory in the third frame 26-24, and the Warriors used that momentum to take the fourth set 25-20 and win the tie-breaking fifth frame 15-8.
Senior Ally Rinner led the Warriors with nine kills, while sophomores Carlee Lunsford and Brenna Graber had seven kills and three serving aces each. Graber also had a match-high 30 digs, while senior Ella Huisenga came up with five kills, 16 digs and two aces.
Drew Graber added four kills and two blocked shots, while fellow sophomore Kinsey Hildebrand handed out 19 assists at setter to go with a kill, four aces and 10 digs. Junior setter Morgan Meyer also had 15 assists, three kills, nine digs and an ace to help WACO finish the regular season with a record of 8-18.
Senior Peyton Graber added three aces and 13 digs as the Warriors, after an 0-5 start to conference play, win their final three matches of the season in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.
