The Highland Huskies will try to go out as winners when they travel to Wapello tonight for their final game of the 2024 football regular season. Highland dominated Louisa-Muscatine in a 41-6 homecoming victory last week that raised their record to 3-4.

Senior Sage Hartley-Norman and sophomore Jose Ramirez are the leading rushers for the Huskies, combining to run for nearly 600 yards and nine touchdowns. Freshman receiver Liam Roberts is also becoming a deep-ball threat, as his eight receptions have totaled nearly 150 yards.

Highland has a number of playmakers on the defensive side of the ball as well. Ramirez has nine tackles for loss and four sacks, while Colten Sypherd leads the team in total stops and fellow seniors Isaac Kleese and Logan McFarland lead the Huskies in plays made behind the line of scrimmage, combining for 16 tackles for loss and six sacks.

Highland will be taking on a Wapello squad that is 2-5. Despite big plays from players like junior Grant Wilson, who leads the team in both rushing yards and tackles, the Indians have lost three straight.

The Huskies won this matchup last season 28-0, their first victory in the series dating back to 2010. Kickoff of this season’s game in Wapello is set for this evening at 7.
