KCII News spoke with U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley about the Better Enforcement of Grievous Offences by Unnaturalized Emigrants Act or BE GONE Act, and his work, “People with these backgrounds, coming in and committing crimes in the United States, and our legislation would make it easier to deport them. They could be deported anyway under existing law, but the administration is not doing that. The bill we put in serves two purposes, one to bring attention to the fact that the administration isn’t doing anything in this area, and secondly to make it easier to get these people out of the country.” The BE GONE Act would classify sexual assault and aggravated sexual violence as “aggravated felonies” under the Immigration and Nationality Act. Migrants convicted of “aggravated felonies” are subject to immediate deportation and barred from reentering the U.S.
