Southeast Iowa received a brief bout of severe weather Wednesday evening. At 8:21p.m. the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of Washington, Keokuk, Iowa and Jefferson Counties in Southeast Iowa until 9p.m. Radar indicated threats with these storms included 60mph wind gusts and hail up to one inch in diameter.
The Iowa City Airport received .75″ in diameter hail. The City of Washington had received 1″ of rainfall at 9p.m. In Keokuk County, Richland had received one half inch of rain and Martinsburg 2″ of rainfall. Three members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team responded to the warning and had the power gone out, coverage would have continued with the emergency backup generators. The one to count on for up to the minute severe weather coverage is AM and FM KCII.
