The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves strung together a third straight year with a trip to the eight-player playoffs on the football field, and seven players who helped lead the way to another strong season have earned all-district honors in District 6.
Among that group is Cooper Buffington, who has been named the Most Valuable Lineman in the district. In addition to paving the way for WMU to put up over 350 yards per game on offense, the senior racked up 12 tackles for loss on defense.
Quarterback Jake Edwards joins Buffington as a first-team selection after passing for 1,663 yards and 22 touchdowns while also rushing for another 11 TDs.
Fellow senior Lane Genkinger is a first-team choice at running back after not only leading Winfield-Mount Union with just under 800 yards and 15 scores on the ground but also pacing the Wolves with 41 pass receptions for over 820 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Max Edwards makes the first teams as a receiver with 31 catches for over 550 yards and seven TDs, while fellow junior Grant Anderson joins Buffington as a first-team choice on the offensive line.
Junior Nicholas Sparrow is selected to the second team as a utility player, rolling up over 470 yards of offense and four scores while also intercepting two passes on defense.
Honorable mention goes to sophomore Tayson Samuels, whose 12 catches for over 200 yards and three touchdowns helped WMU to a 5-4 record this season.
