Those who have served in our nation’s military across all branches will be honored on Monday for Veterans Day. Area recognitions include breakfasts, assemblies, and more.

Hy-Vee is celebrating its 25th anniversary of their Veterans Day breakfast with a free breakfast available 6-10 a.m. for all veterans and active-duty military members at all Hy-Vee stores.

Mid-Prairie High School is hosting a Veterans Day assembly and luncheon starting at 10:30 a.m. with area veterans invited to attend; RSVP by calling 319-646-6091.

Columbus Community Schools will also host a Veterans Day assembly at Roundy Elementary Monday morning.

Washington’s American Legion Leon Beatty Post #29 will be presenting their annual Veterans Day program at Blair House at 10 a.m. The featured speaker will be Heather Hora with Brian Pierson as the featured soloist.

Keota VFW Post 4716 will host their annual Veterans Day soup supper from 4-7 p.m. on Monday.

Veterans Day is observed on November 11th each year, as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs states armistice during “The Great War,” known as World War I, went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918.
