On Thursday, at approximately 2:30 pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle rollover incident with unknown injuries in a farm field located near the southeast corner of 110th St. and Orange Ave. intersection in rural Washington County. A 2007 Hyundai Entourage van, driven by Adilio Aguilar-Lucas of Washington was traveling southbound on Orange Ave. Upon approaching the stop sign at 110th St. and Orange Ave., Aguilar-Lucas failed to stop, entered the intersection, lost control, and left the roadway striking the embankment, rolling multiple times, coming to rest right side up and facing northbound. 

The operator and passenger exited the motor vehicle, the passenger remained at the accident location, but the operator did flee westbound on foot. A short time later, officials observed the operator hiding in trees north of J Ave. on 14th St. in Kalona. Aguilar-Lucas was detained, and was arrested on charges of, active arrest warrant through Washington County, Operation While Intoxicated: 1st Offense, a serious misdemeanor, Driving Under Suspension, Careless Driving, a simple misdemeanor, Failure to Maintain Control, a simple misdemeanor, No proof of Insurance-Accident Related, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Washington County Ambulance Service, Kalona Fire Department, Kalona QRS, and Bulltown Towing.
