This season was another spectacular one for Sigourney-Keota football, rolling up seven wins and a district championship. The success is reflected in the 17 players who receive all-district honors for the Cobras in Class 1A District 6.
Senior running back Isaac Bruns is one of them, and in addition to being a first-team selection, Bruns is also named the Offensive Most Valuable Player for District 6 this season.
Bruns piled 1,461 yards and 23 touchdowns running the ball while also averaging eight-and-a-half yards per carry, and he also caught seven passes for over 170 yards and another three TDs.
Senior Billie Kindred and junior Owen Menke helped pave the way for Bruns and the rest of the SK offense to average a whopping 312 rushing yards per game and are first-team choices on the offensive line, while senior Caden Clarahan also makes the first team as a utility player for his efforts as a blocking tight end.
On defense, senior linebacker Ashton Schwab receives first-team accolades for leading the Cobras with 34 total tackles, while seniors Jace Chalupa and Zach Guffey make the first-team defensive line after combining for 38 total stops and seven tackles for loss.
Defensive back Brady Clark had a team-high three interceptions for Sigourney-Keota and is joined as a first-team choice in the secondary by sophomore Ike Molyneux. Clarahan is one of two first-team punters after he averaged nearly 43 yards per kick.
Two more members of the SK offensive line make the second team in seniors Landyn Greiner and Jax Weber, as does senior tight end Brody Greiner. Cael O’Rourke is another senior selection for the Cobras on the second-team defensive line.
Junior John Berg makes the second team as a defensive back after collecting 30.5 tackles, an interception and two fumble recoveries. Honorable mentions go to sophomore Carson O’Rourke and juniors Jacob Libe and Brayden Wood, who helped Sigourney-Keota finish the season with a record of 7-2.
