Attendance and chronic absenteeism were part of the Superintendent’s report at the recent Washington School Board meeting. Superintendent Willie Stone shared, “First up we’ll go to data trends. This is what we go over every month. With our daily attendance we averaged 95.24 percent last month in comparison to last year at that time we are up nine students more per day. Which by the end of the year equals 9,985 more hours.” The push from the state legislature to pass the absenteeism law was praised by Stone, who remarked on the improvement in overall district numbers.
