The Washington County 4-H Volunteer of the Year was announced at the annual awards night held on November 10th. Michael Huston was named the volunteer of the year for his involvement in the 4-H program. As a volunteer, financial sponsor, and event organizer, he leads with his Head, Heart, Hands, and Health in mind. His positive spirit and passion for educating follows him everywhere. The past two years he has given his time and expertise to help with the Crops Scouting Team prepare for their contest. He has helped the Livewires Club with cemetery stone preservation in Wellman. He brought a great new tradition to the Washington County Fair with the annual Tall Corn Contest in honor of Washington’s world record corn stalk. Huston sponsors the Beef Check-off Fee annually for youth selling cattle at the fair. Huston is being recognized for generous leadership and volunteer service to 4-H and the community.
