Iowa reached the 97% complete mark this week for corn harvested for grain. Over the last week, farmers had 3.8 days suitable for fieldwork in southeast Iowa according to the USDA.

Southeast Iowa’s topsoil moisture is rated at 2 percent surplus, 65 percent adequate, 21 percent short and 12 percent very short. At this time last year the state’s topsoil moisture was 69 percent short to very short. In regards to subsoil moisture, southeast Iowa is currently at one percent surplus, 40 percent adequate, 44 percent short, and 15 percent very short. Statewide at this time last year, the subsoil moisture was rated at 75 percent short to very short.
