In cooperation with Washington County Emergency Management, the City of Washington has initiated an opt-in text alerting system for residents in the downtown area to receive important reminder text alerts about moving vehicles from the street for snow removal. To receive text message alerts you can text: WASHIOWAPARKING to 67283 from your cellphone. To receive email message alerts, text and voice alerts, and to select other emergency alerts you would like to receive specific to your street address, you can find a link to sign up with this news story at KCIIRadio.com. In addition to the alert messages, residents are reminded to watch for signs posted on the corners of the square as required by local ordinances for snow removal. Vehicles found parked in violation of the Snow Emergency or Snow Ban Ordinance may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense. Fines for parking violations of Snow Ban and Snow Emergency Ordinances is $50. Vehicles need to be removed from the street when the Mayor declares a snow emergency, from 10 pm to 6 am when signs are posted in the northwest and southeast corners of Central Park. https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/reg.action
