A check for $70,000 was recently presented for sarcoma cancer research thanks to funds raised by a local cycling event. Courage Ride representatives presented the check to the University of Iowa’s Sarcoma Research Program at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center in Iowa City. More than 350 riders from nine states took part in this year’s event in August.
Courage Ride was founded in 2005 by Riverside couple Jackie and Tom Bailey to honor their son Seth. He fought sarcoma for eight years before passing away at the age of 25.
Since it began, the event has raised $935,000 for sarcoma research. The funds are used for research on the rare cancer. Sarcoma accounts for 1% of adult cancers and 21% of childhood cancers.
Mark your calendars for the 2025 Courage Ride to be held on August 9th.
