The Washington Demon girls’ wrestling team competed Saturday at the Grayhound Girls Invitational in Burlington and had some solid individual performers on their way to finishing ninth as a team.

That included senior Peggy Miller taking second place in the 145-pound weight class, winning her first two bouts with a pin before losing a 4-3 decision in the final for her first defeat of the new season.

Washington’s Nora Stoutner and Ryha Wellington took third at 130 and 140, respectively, while fellow Demon sophomore Allison Reed was seventh at 120.

The Lone Tree Lions also took part in the action in Burlington and were eighth in the team standings. Carlee Sexton led Lone Tree by finishing second at 105 lbs.

Fellow sophomore Olivia Magruder was fourth at 135, as was senior Alex Dautremont at 140. Junior Ashlynn Sojka finished fifth at 235 for the Lions, while senior Kayleigh Rundlett was sixth at 145.

The biggest local winner of the weekend came at the BGM Tournament in Brooklyn, where WACO senior Elyssa Graber used three pins to take home the championship at 105 lbs. Senior Rylee Rice finished third at 110 for the Warriors, while Addison Alliman also earned the bronze medal at 100.

Sophomore Chloe Sexton was also a champion for Highland by pinning a pair of opponents at 190 lbs, while freshman Maiya Singbeil had a fifth-place finish for the Huskies at 135.
