November is National Adoption Month and for families paired with children in the People’s Republic of China there have been delays. U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley tells KCII News about the struggles of families dealing with the People’s Republic of China’s decision to end intercountry adoptions for those without Chinese familial ties, “Well, on August 28th, China announced that they weren’t going to allow any more adoptions. At the very least if he wants to stop adoptions, I mean President Xi of China, wants to stop adoptions of Chinese people, he shouldn’t stand in the way of American families and maybe families in other countries that have adoptions underway and are just waiting to get them to the United States. And we are asking him to take that into consideration, and I suppose our letter to the president was to make sure our president gets behind that.” Three hundred children in the PRC, and some with various health conditions are already paired with families in the US, including some families in Iowa that have been waiting for years to finalize their adoption.
