A garden project will be happening next year on Washington County property. At their meeting on Tuesday, the Washington County Board of Supervisors heard a presentation from Andy Miller with the Washington County Extension Office to use a space at the Orchard Hill Complex as a garden, “So I am working on a grant, it’s called the growing together grant. It is from the Iowa State University Master Gardeners program, and wanting to see if we could utilize the established ground out at the old main area, I know there was already a garden there at one time. To grow a donation garden. This garden, if allowed, would be maintained by community partners but led by the Master Gardeners here in Washington County. The grant that I would write for would allow us to purchase fencing and tools, and everything that we would need for the project.” The Supervisors showed their support for the project and voted to approve the use of the space.
