The Washington County Board of Supervisors discussed the need for a new Outreach Director at their Tuesday meeting. During the discussion, it was mentioned by Washington County Sheriff Jared Schneider that their department has been having talks to take on the duties of the position, “We still need to look at it a little bit more, but I think our thought was that we could incorporate that within the Sheriff’s Office. I’d bring it under the Civil Office umbrella, they are handling sex offender registry and things like that now, but, obviously we need a little bit better understanding of the workload and things like that.” The Supervisors requested more information from the Sheriff’s Department to see if they would be able to take on the role financially.  More information will be provided in December to the Supervisors. The outreach director is responsible for the individuals with drug and alcohol probation charges and their treatment options.
