A decorated golf cart parade, caroling, cookie decorating, shopping, live music and more can be found this Saturday at the annual Christmas in Kalona event.
The town will be full of activities throughout the day, says Kalona Chamber of Commerce Director Tonia Poole, “There’s a lot of great free things to do. We know the holidays can be stressful with the expense of trying to get in and do all that you can. And so, we’ve got as much free as possible, whether its the wagon rides, Santa Claus, decorating cookies and ornaments. There’s a lot there that you can come and you don’t need to worry about the expense of the day, you can just make memories and soak it all up.”
The Christmas Market and kids activities will be held in the Kalona YMCA from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Santa Claus arriving at 10 a.m. Pick up a stocking for the Walking Stocking at the Kalona Chamber and shop while live music is on the street corners. The Kalona Historical Village is hosting a Christmas tree walk and caroling from 4-7 p.m.
The lighted golf cart parade begins at 5 p.m. with golf carts lining up at the corner of B Avenue and 6th Street, traveling west on B Avenue, north on 3rd Street, then east on D Avenue and ending up at the Kalona Historical Village.
