The WACO Warriors fell in both of their basketball games last night at Holy Trinity Catholic. The WACO girls trailed by only a point at the end of the first quarter and were only down 21-17 at halftime, but a 15-8 run stretched the Holy Trinity lead to double digits in the second half, and the Crusaders went on to win 43-37.
Sophomore Brenna Graber hit a pair of three-point shots and scored a team-high 14 points for the Warriors. Senior Ella Huisenga added 13 points as WACO drops to 1-1.
The Warrior boys were only down four after a quarter of play when a 15-5 run put Holy Trinity up 29-15 at halftime, and WACO would never be able to recover, falling 57-35. The Warriors will try to bounce back from losing their season opener when they next play Friday against Pekin.
