The first ever boys Washington County wrestling duals treated a full house at the Demon Den in Washington Tuesday to high level local wrestling.
The Washington boys swept all three visiting teams to win the championship on their home mat. The Demons beat Highland 56-24, Mid-Prairie 59-24 and WACO 43-42 on tiebreaker criteria E, number of forfeited matches. Top Demons on the night included 3-0 events for Aaron Boone with a pair of tech falls, Jude Carter with two pins, and Blaine Rees with two falls. Washington wrestlers with 2-1 evenings included Joseph Schreiber with a pin, Max Anderson with a pin, Nate Edmonds with an 8-6 decision and a pin, Xavi Recendez with a fall, Sam Mason-Goff with two pins and Greyson Hartman with a pair of falls.
The Mid-Prairie boys were 2-1 in duals on the night, falling to Washington but rebounding to beat Highland 45-30 and WACO 45-36. Unbeaten Hawks on the night included Peyton Fox with three pins, Max Kipp with two falls, and Burke Berry with a pin. Golden Hawk grapplers with 2-1 nights included Blake Malichky with a fall and a 14-9 decision, Max Howe with a pin, Mason Howe with two falls, Josh Turner with a pin, and Tommy Miller with two falls.
After dropping team contests to Mid-Prairie and Washington, the WACO Warriors came back to get by Highland 43-42 on tiebreaker criteria E, most forfeited matches. Unbeaten Warriors on the night included Ian Maize with two pins, Gage Samo with a pair of falls, Braxton Stauffer with a pin, and Louden Huisenga with two falls.
A tough team night on the mat for the Huskies still showed some individual bright spots with Aiden Yoder pinning his way to a perfect 3-0 night and Mason Lavely scoring a fall in his only bout. Huskies with 2-1 records at the event included Jack Cave with a pin, Cash Cole with a fall, and Brock Thomann with a pin.
