The Washington City Council approved a 28E agreement with the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division for the fiscal year 2025 Tobacco Compliance Program at the Tuesday meeting. Police Chief Jim Lester discussed  being involved in the program in the past, “We’ve done it every year that I have been here, the last two years all of the retailers have passed and been in compliance.” The I-PLEDGE program is a partnership with the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division to educate local retailers and enforce Iowa’s tobacco, alternative nicotine, and vapor product laws.
