The Washington County Cattlemen’s Association has three opportunities available for area teens and young adults.
They will be selecting a Beef Queen and Princess. Requirements include an interest in beef cattle production, parents being involved with beef production, a willingness to promote beef, as well as attending a school in the Washington County area. Girls between the ages of 14-18 can apply.
They will be offering up to a $2,000 scholarship to a graduating senior. Requirements include being a Washington County resident, parents being a Washington County Cattlemen’s member or if living outside the county, the applicant’s parents must be WCCA members. The award recipient is majoring in an agricultural field.
Washington County Cattlemen will be offering up to a $2,500 grant to a graduating high school senior or returning college student who is starting an operation or returning to the farm. This grant is intended to help a young cattle producer offset costs associated with starting or expanding a beef enterprise. Applications for all three of these opportunities are due by January 3, 2025.
Any questions regarding these opportunities should be directed to Barbie Ford WCCA Youth Chairman at 317-413-3767.
