Fifteen homes are going to see improvements in Washington under a pilot rehabilitation program. The Washington City Council held a discussion regarding a resolution approving contractors for the owner- occupied housing rehabilitation program bids at their Tuesday meeting. City Administrator Joe Gaa gave more information on the program, “This is accepting the bids so we will go through for a new property, and a little housekeeping on this one when it first came through the bid sheet said 529 W Washington, it’s actually W Jefferson, so we are just correcting that. This will represent the last property to be accepted in this, this will get us to number 15 under this pilot program.” The Council approved the bids for six properties in Washington. The program is administered by the East Central Iowa Council of Governments. Owner-occupied rehabilitation programs are offered throughout ECICOG’s six-county region by each housing trust fund. Income limits vary by county, and only low-to-moderate income homeowners living in the home as their primary residence are eligible to apply.
