The Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union boys’ wrestling team finished fourth Saturday at the Williamsburg Duals. The Wildcats won their first team competition of the weekend 44-32 against Pella but lost in the second round to the hosts from Williamsburg 55-18.
Columbus/WMU came up just short against Center Point-Urbana 39-38 and would end the tournament with two more team losses, falling 48-30 to Davenport Assumption and 41-33 to Marshalltown.
Among the individual winners for the Wildcats this weekend were sophomore Justin Knipfer at 106 pounds; junior Dakota Aney at 113; sophomore Tayson Samuels at 132; junior Alex Venzor at 138; senior Riley Kaalberg at 165; and junior Kason Dopler at 175.
Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union next wrestles Thursday when they will host a quadrangular with the Highland Huskies, Burlington Notre Dame and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
