The Iowa House Speaker has set the Republican committee assignments. House Speaker Pat Grassley (R-New Hartford) announced the assignments for the 91st General Assembly which will go into session next month. Local Republican representatives have been assigned the following committees:

•  Rep. Heather Hora will serve on the committees for Agriculture, Education, Higher Education, State Government, and Education Appropriations.
  – Rep. Helena Hayes will be Vice Chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Appropriations committee. She will also serve on the committees for Education, International Relations, Labor and Workforce, and Veterans Affairs.
• Rep. Jeff Shipley will be Vice Chair of the Government Oversight committee and the Higher Education committee. He will also serve on the Education and Judiciary committees. 
• Rep. Taylor Collins will be Chair of the Higher Education committee. Collins will also be on the Natural Resources, State Government, Appropriations, and Government Oversight committees. 
• Rep. Bobby Kaufman will be Chair of the Ways and Means Committee. He will also be on the Government Oversight, Higher Education, and State Government committees.

The legislative session begins on Monday, January 13, 2025.
