The Lone Tree Lions and WACO Warriors split a Southeast Iowa Super Conference basketball doubleheader Friday night in Wayland. Lone Tree won the girls’ game 48-33, racing out to a 13-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and leading by double digits the rest of the way.

Finley Jacque scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Lions, while fellow junior Alyson Ford had 10 points to help Lone Tree improve to 3-2 in the Super Conference North and 5-2 overall. Sophomore Madelyn Farmer’s nine points led WACO as the Warriors drop to 2-2 in conference play and 2-3 in total.

WACO came away with a 66-44 victory in the boys’ game after they led 20-9 a quarter in and never looked back. Senior Isaac Rich and junior Christian Stacy scored 20 points each to lead the team as the Warriors raise their record to 3-1 and remain unbeaten in the Super Conference North.

9 points each from juniors Reece Holbrook and Gray Spillman paced Lone Tree as they drop to 2-3, including a 2-2 conference record. While both WACO teams next play Tuesday at Hillcrest Academy, both Lion squads are back in action Saturday at English Valleys.
