Widespread freezing rain Saturday brought very slick conditions to the KCII listening area, and multiple power outages. 

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities issued Ice Storm Warnings for the entire KCII listening area early Saturday morning that continued into Saturday evening. 

Many reports of ice amounts over a quarter of an inch were reported, including in Washington and Kalona, with the highest totals observed near the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City metros. Reports of accidents including jackknifed semi on Highway 218, and at least one report of a vehicle sliding off the highway. Multiple reports of snapped power lines and tree branches in roadways were documented in Washington. At the storm’s peak, Alliant Energy reported nearly 9,000 customers without power across multiple counties in Southeast Iowa.
