The superintendent of WACO and Highland Community School Districts has announced his retirement. Superintendent Ken Crawford will be retiring on June 30, 2025. WACO and Highland have shared the superintendent position since 2021.
Highland School District has hired Grundmeyer Leadership Services to conduct the superintendent search. Crawford explains that the possibility of the two districts continuing to share the position is an option the two school boards can consider.
Crawford served as a superintendent for eight years, with his tenure including Lone Tree, WACO and Highland. Prior to that, he was a business teacher for 16 years and a secondary principal for 13 years. In total, he worked in education for 37 years.
